Lit by Vasantha Naidoo 4th December 2022
Just over 10 years ago I received a heartfelt tribute from cousin Kevin on behalf of Uncle Kay, Aunty Barbara and the family on the loss of my dad, TP, so today it is with a heavy heart that I pen this message. My dearest Aunty Barbara, cousin Kevin, sister-in -law: Shalene, nephew Jouveer and niece Sherise, aunts and uncles, extended family, relatives and friends, my late dad always said that if he were born again, he will want the same family and circle of friends, today as the eldest grandchild of the PR Naidoo family I echo these thoughts as we bid farewell to our dearest loving and lovable uncle Kay, a husband, father, grandfather, father-in law, brother/ brother in law, relative and friend as he has gained his heavenly wings. Ava and Thatha along with their sons TP Naidoo and Soobiah, nephews Logan Naidoo and Sandy Viranna, and many other loved ones will be waiting to receive Uncle Kay with widespread arms to the heavenly abode. I know that each of us is feeling this pain and shock of his sudden loss, and let us pray for strength for all, and more especially for dearest Aunty Barbara, Kevin, Sharlene and the grandchildren; a person so well loved that even God wanted his presence, fare thee well our dearest Uncle Kay. Our heartfelt condolences to Aunts Jay, Mano and Baby, to Uncles Robert, Don, Dick and Gopal, May Swami be with us all, Today and always. Please allow me to share my mums’ words: “Ever since I got married and being the eldest daughter in law, I remember Kay to be calm, polite, respectful and helpful. He always treated Anna and I with utmost love and respect, and in Barbara he found his perfect match. Some of my most vivid reflections are the days when he would stop in Mobeni Heights after his hospital visit and I would cook him all his favourite dishes, and Kay would spend the rest of his day with Anna and myself until Barbara fetched him to go home. Never a boring moment as we always had lots to talk about, especially the family days in Kent Road, DURBAN. When my son Logan took ill in Johannesburg, anna and I were unable to travel, but Kay and Barbara immediately responded to Anna’s request to fly to Johannesburg to be with Logan, Anna and I were so very grateful for this kind and spontaneous gesture and so was my dear Logan. During the time that my children, Vasantha and Selvan and Mahen went abroad, Kay and Barbara stood steadfast by our sides by accompanying us to many events as Anna was unable to drive. And so it came to pass that the both of them were well known amongst our family members and large circle of friends. There is so much that I can say as his Wedhina, but from my heart I wish to thank you my dear brother-in-law Kay for always being supportive, respectful, loving and caring towards Anna and myself and to my children, and the doting love you showered on my grandchildren. You loved your card games and now you will get to play “thunee” with Anna, Chin and many other card players in Gods heavenly abode. I will love and miss you always.” Wedhina. Dear Cousin Kevin, Aunty Barbara and family, no amount of words can take way the grief you feel now and for days to come, but I sincerely hope that the outpouring of love, support and beautiful tributes from far and near will bring you some solace, comfort and strength during this difficult time. “The sole purpose of man is to serve mankind and through this to serve God”, and Uncle Kay you are an exemplary role model of this teaching. Till we meet again, God Bless. With love and respect, Wedhina, Vasantha, Selvan and Mahen. A host of friends and relatives from South Africa convey their sincere condolences.
