Lit by Janakee, Babs and Don 4th December 2022
Kay your passing has shocked us all. With TP and Chin, we had time to prepare ourselves for the inevitable moment of transition that each of us has to face. None of us thought that Dick would out live the three of you. It seems that Dick is now moving on to his third cat’s nine lives. While there is tremendous shock and sadness that we are feeling, we are happy that you got the kind of end that you asked Swami for - to go while you are in good health and still active rather than needing to be cared for by others. Your wish was granted. I recall vividly how excited and happy you were to see Don and myself when we arrived in New Zealand to visit you all. This brings to mind another beautiful memory of you a few years before in South Africa. We had come to visit you and Barbara in Isipingo and as Barbara opened the door, you stood behind her and joyfully proclaimed, “We are now Kiwis” even before Barbara had a chance to say hello. As we were not able to be with you for celebrating your 80th birthday due to the Covid lock down we really looking forward to you and Barbara coming to Prashanti at the end of next year to come and celebrate my 80th birthday. Babs was looking forward to her trip to come spend time with you all in picturesque New Zealand. She is deeply saddened that she will never see you again. It seems that Swami was so happy with you lovingly, singing in the opening slot of this year’s Akanda Bhajan that he has promoted to his upstairs Bhajan team. Barbara, Kevin, Shalene, Jouveer and Sherise our heartfelt condolences to you on this big, big loss in your lives. You have lost a good husband, father and grandfather. To the rest of our family, all the dear friends of Kay and to our special Sai Family, both in New Zealand and South Africa, likewise our heartfelt condolences and sympathies to you all as we share in this sadness. To soften the sadness, you and Barbara have given us a treasure trove of beautiful memories. We recall the wonderful times we spent with you when we traveled down to Durban and stayed with you in Doonside. In fact, the memories go all the way back to our childhood when we grew up together. You made it evident that we were part of your life as you would ask Barbara, “Did Jay phone you today?” if he did not hear the two of us talking on Whatsapp. Whenever I asked you, “How are you, Kay?” you would always answer, “Kay is always OK”. Kay . . . we are very happy that you are OK . . . but . . . we are not so OK at the moment. Barbara we very much appreciate that you are still with us. You have always been an amazing mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, grandmother, friend and valuable neighbour to many people. We pray to Swami to comfort you with this loss. Please continue to pour the selfless live into the Sai seva that you are so involved in. May it be a source of succour and joy for you. Loving Sai Rams
